Frank Fiore President of Matchbox LLC

For the first 10 years of his career, Frank Fiore gained experience in the financial world on Wall Street working at Nomura Securities, Lehman Brothers, and Morgan Stanley. During this time, he learned to appreciate the balance between the services needed by front office production units and the support needed from operations teams. He has managed this balance successfully over the years which has aided the progression of his career. In fact, he made the rise to officer level at Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley within his first year at each firm.

In 1998, Frank had a unique opportunity to join a growing independent mortgage broker based out of Long Island, New York. Over the next 15 years, serving as the COO, Frank successfully initiated and completed the migration of the firm to mortgage banker, handling all facets of the operational process He filled multiple roles, such as CFO and Head of Secondary, which were created and then turned over to others as the company grew. Frank also managed multiple projects including building a proprietary pipeline management system, and managed the company’s conversion to the Encompass Loan Origination System.

In 2010, Frank created matchbox LLC, a consulting and advisory firm focusing on mortgage banking operations in two areas: improvement in the use of technology and the understanding of the secondary markets. matchbox was created to be a consulting and advisory firm that would not just advise companies but work with them in implementing improvements on the operational side that resulted in increased profitability. Since its inception, matchbox has worked on over 300 successful engagements and assisted many companies in achieving their goals. Comprised of former clients, the matchbox team has extensive knowledge of the Encompass Loan Origination System and employs a strategy that models technology to support its clients’ business models. matchbox employs a staff of experienced mortgage bankers that are as passionate about serving clients and delivering results.

Frank is a graduate of Saint John’s University and the Mortgage Bankers Association Future Leaders program. He is a member of both the Secondary and Capital Markets and Residential Technology Forum committees within the Mortgage Bankers Association.  With Frank’s leadership, matchbox was selected for the MPA Hot 100 in 2017.  He would be the first to tell you that he would not be here without the support of his wife Claudine and his four children. When not growing matchbox, Frank participates (not to be confused with competes) in triathlons, and enjoys going to Dave Matthews Band concerts.

Jonathan Yosha Vice President – Secondary Marketing Division

Jonathan Yosha is a Vice President at matchbox LLC and is responsible for managing its Capital Markets Division, as well as consulting on all things Secondary. He has 15+ years of mortgage banking experience and while his core focus is in secondary marketing, he also has the unique ability to see how back end procedures and decision-making impact every step of the origination process. Jonathan has worked with 100+ mortgage and community bankers to increase their gain on sale through operational, hedging, and lock desk efficiencies along with proactive margin, pipeline management and oversight. He is fluent on all best-practices based on PPE and hedging platforms with a primary focus of “‘finding the crumbs” and “ringing the towel” to maximize profits. Jonathan has built lock desks, converted brokers to bankers, revamped lock, post-closing, and secondary workflows, implemented strategies and workflow to delivery to the agencies – including Ginnie Mae securitizations – and effectively worked with sub-servicers.

Jonathan is a two-time selection of the impressive 40 under 40 group by National Mortgage Professional. His clients know that he’s “on-call’ 24/7, even when he’s traveling to another continent or running around with his two young daughters.

Kimberly Apel Senior System Analyst – Technology Division

When Kimberly Apel began what was supposed to be a “part-time” job at a community lender, she had no idea her career in the mortgage industry was just taking shape.  During her tenure, the company doubled its employee count and loan volume.  As the company grew, her role evolved and she served in multiple roles ranging from lock desk to accounts payable/payroll clerk to director of operations and human resources.

As the director of operations, Kimberly was instrumental in the development and roll-out of two Loan Origination Systems.  She is well-versed in the institutional impact of a loan origination system transition including cultural, procedural, and economical.  Her strengths are in product execution and cultural impact.

Kimberly offers a unique perspective as she was once a “client” and felt called to be part of the matchbox team.  Her background is such that she chooses to be a voice of stability in the midst of change for other mortgage lenders going through a similar transition.  Kimberly is blessed to share this life with her husband and two amazing children.  Her family is her greatest accomplishment and source of pride.

Jill Radtke Senior Systems Analyst – Technology Division

Jill comes to matchbox with more than 17 years’ experience in the mortgage industry.  During her earlier years, she wore may hats including processor, loan office assistant, closer, post closer, and operations manager.  The one common denominator during those early years was each company utilized the Ellie Mae Encompass Loan Origination System.  Her foundational knowledge of Encompass grew as her roles changed over the years and eventually she became an Encompass administrator for a company with over 200 users.

Since joining the matchbox team two years ago, Jill has been able to put her past experiences to use.  She understands what it is like to be an end user and helps guide clients to the best options for their company’s goals.  Jill has firsthand experience in developing protocols which allow Encompass to help clients work smarter, not harder.

Coastal North Carolina is home to Jill and her husband, Jason and son, Cooper.  As a family, they love spending their time on their boat or at the beach.  The boys love to surf and fish, and Jill is usually holding down the beach chairs while reading a good book.

Julia Lambert Business Analyst – Technology Division

Julia is an active member of the technology team. She fills a number of roles when working with clients for the purposes of translating their requests into functional technology development requirements. While utilizing her accounting background, Julia has excelled in deepening her mortgage knowledge which has greatly aided the support of client inquiries throughout engagements. She is actively involved in working with client customization requests from the initial request though implementation. Julia has an accounting degree from Syracuse University and enjoys a good music festival.

John Warmus matchbox University – Corporate Trainer

John has grown up in the mortgage industry and has experience in everything from origination, processing, and underwriting. Working with both community banks and large nationwide lenders has granted John experience and knowledge in all aspects of the mortgage-banking world. Before joining matchbox, John worked for D + H Solutions as part of their LOS team. John worked with clients all over the country, with businesses of all sizes and models. This gives John insight on LOS implementation and administration from all angles for our clients. With an MBA in Project Management, John has the ability to see where users are at and what level they need to reach.

As our director of client services, John has created matchbox university (MU). Taking advantage of his diverse background, MU offers a training experience second to none.  As “dean” of MU, John’s experience as a system administrator, Encompass implementation manager and end-user, has created a training approach unlike anything else out there. MU has helped companies on multiple software platforms get their workforce up and running as efficiently as possible. John has aided clients in training and converting users at every level of the mortgage loan process and in every business channel. MU also offers training to business partners for our TPO clients with great success.

When John is not traveling around aiding clients to be functioning at their fullest level, he spends time at home in the great state of Wisconsin. There with his wife and growing family, John enjoys all the great things the Midwest has to offer. John has a passion for helping others, and runs a week-long youth camp during the summers.

steven clerkin  Systems Analyst - Technology Division

From Marketing to Mortgage, Steven began his career in the fast paced world of advertising and marketing. He joined matchbox team as a systems analyst in our technology decision. He has always had a great passion for technology and joined matchbox  to expand his knowledge in the ever changing world of mortgage.
